Housing needs and the development of housing are undergoing transition in our society, primarily as a result of energy costs in transportation and economic conditions that are focusing people’s attention on more efficient, affordable housing. The provision of housing is very different in suburban and rural communities from that in the city core. Loucks Associates has extensive experience in both.

From the 1970’s into the 1980’s suburban housing development was the focus of much of our society and Loucks was very active in those projects. From small, one cul-de-sac sites to phased developments covering hundreds of acres, Loucks developed expertise in the design, engineering, permitting, staking and construction administration of these projects.

As the focus of society shifted, more and more attention was given to inner-city development and redevelopment. Higher-density housing and mixed-use sites with housing and commercial combined became a very large portion of our projects here at Loucks. We have become leaders in the area of central-city redevelopment, whether it be in condominiums, both new construction and reuse; student housing at or near our universities; mixed-use neighborhoods in the downtowns; combined high-rise condos and townhomes; or other mixes of housing, retail, medical and commercial uses. Loucks has become a leader in the handling of stormwater in our urban communities and is respected and recognized by the staffs of the varied communities in our region.
