Notable Project Experience
University of Minnesota Education Sciences Building - Minneapolis, MN
Loucks Associates is currently providing civil engineering services for the renovation of the Education Sciences Building. Engineering includes upgrading the front entrance and the parking along East River Road to current handicap standards, civil engineering design for a pedestrian/plaza area on the Mississippi River side of the building, designing a sidewalk/bikepath for safer travel for students crossing the bridge, updating sanitary and watermain services, designing the storm sewer system, including rain gardens for water quality treatment and to reduce the flow of water running over the river bank
Globe Redevelopment Project - St. Paul, MN
The scope of work consists of demolishing and removing the Globe Asphalt Shingle Plant above and below grade. This demolition/remediation work includes the removal of all asbestos containing and hazardous materials above and below ground. Upon completion of the demolition/remediation a building pad is being prepared through structural fill and the site is being graded to accommodate development. Innovative storm water management facilities are being designed for the project, such as the EPIC system developed by Glenn Rehbein Companies.
Maple Grove Medical Campus - Maple Grove, MN
We worked directly with the architect to complete design of a new hospital and medical campus in the northwest suburbs. The site was in the city-designated Tree Preservation Zone containing over 500 trees. The site design and grading design took advantage of the natural amenities and minimized the impact of the trees and natural vegetation.
St. Anthony Townhomes, Lofts, and Brownstones - Minneapolis, MN
This project was a three-city-block redevelopment located at University Avenue and 1st Avenue NE. It involved redeveloping a warehouse and car dealer site into an eight-story, dual-tower condominium building with two levels of underground parking; two-story townhouses with rear level garage entry; and executive brownstone townhomes utilizing joint underground parking. Site preparation involved building demolition, gas pipeline relocation and excavating and sorting of over 20 feet of existing fill material for re-use and/or export. Design emphasized creating varied height of outside stairs from the street sidewalk to the front doors to achieve the urban housing appeal.
Protein Design Laboratories (PDL) - Brooklyn Park, MN
Loucks Associates provided civil engineering, surveying and preliminary and final design for a 540,000 square foot manufacturing facility with 410 surface parking spaces. The site is 30 acres in size.
